  • Author: Clara
  • Total Time: 25 minutes
  • Yield: 1 serving 1x

Description

Experience the essence of spring with this Sakura Latte, featuring cherry blossom syrup and optional matcha for a unique twist. Creamy and elegant, it’s topped with whipped cream and edible cherry blossoms, making it a perfect treat for any cozy afternoon.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup of milk (dairy or non-dairy)
  • 1 tablespoon of sakura (cherry blossom) syrup
  • 1 teaspoon of matcha powder (optional)
  • 1/2 teaspoon of vanilla extract
  • 1 tablespoon of sugar (adjust to taste)
  • 1/4 cup of hot water
  • Whipped cream (for topping, optional)
  • Edible cherry blossoms (for garnish, optional)

Instructions

  1. In a small saucepan, combine 1 cup of water and 1 cup of sugar over medium heat. Stir until the sugar completely dissolves.
  2. Add 1/2 cup of dried cherry blossoms to the saucepan and bring the mixture to a gentle simmer.
  3. Allow the syrup to simmer for about 10-15 minutes until the color changes and the aroma of cherry blossoms fills the kitchen.
  4. Remove from heat and let the syrup cool. Strain through a fine mesh sieve to remove the cherry blossoms. Store in a clean bottle or jar in the refrigerator for up to a month.
  5. Heat 1 cup of milk on the stovetop or in the microwave until hot but not boiling.
  6. If using matcha, whisk 1 teaspoon of matcha powder with 1/4 cup of hot water in a small bowl until smooth and frothy.
  7. Froth the heated milk if desired, using a milk frother or whisk.
  8. In a large mug, combine 1 tablespoon of sakura syrup, 1/2 teaspoon of vanilla extract, and 1 tablespoon of sugar. Add matcha if using, and stir until the sugar dissolves.
  9. Slowly pour the hot milk into the mug, stirring gently to combine. Adjust sweetness with more sakura syrup or sugar if desired.
  10. Top the latte with whipped cream if desired.
  11. For presentation, sprinkle matcha powder on top of the whipped cream or drizzle sakura syrup over it. Garnish with edible cherry blossoms.
  12. Serve immediately while warm and enjoy!

Notes

  • For a stronger cherry flavor, increase the sakura syrup and adjust sweetness accordingly.
  • For a vegan version, use almond milk, oat milk, or any non-dairy milk.
  • Experiment with toppings like crushed nuts, chocolate shavings, or cinnamon for a unique twist.
  • To make an iced version, let the milk cool and pour over ice, or blend with ice for a frozen treat.
