Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 ripe bananas
  • 1 cup of dark chocolate chips (or milk chocolate, if preferred)
  • 1 tablespoon of coconut oil (optional, for smoother chocolate)
  • 1 cup of crushed nuts (such as almonds, walnuts, or peanuts)
  • 1 cup of shredded coconut (unsweetened or sweetened, based on preference)
  • 1 teaspoon of sea salt (optional, for a sweet and salty flavor)
  • Popsicle sticks or toothpicks

Instructions

  1. Peel the bananas and cut them into 1-inch thick slices or in half for longer pieces.
  2. Place the banana slices on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper, ensuring they are spaced out.
  3. Insert a popsicle stick or toothpick into each banana slice.
  4. Freeze the banana slices for 1-2 hours until completely frozen.
  5. Melt the chocolate using a double boiler or microwave.
  6. For a double boiler, simmer water in the bottom pot and melt chocolate chips and coconut oil in the top pot, stirring until smooth.
  7. For the microwave, heat chocolate chips and coconut oil in 30-second intervals, stirring in between until melted.
  8. Let the melted chocolate cool slightly.
  9. Remove the frozen banana slices from the freezer.
  10. Dip each slice into the melted chocolate, ensuring an even coat.
  11. Roll the chocolate-covered banana in your choice of toppings (crushed nuts, shredded coconut, or sea salt).
  12. Place the coated bananas back on the parchment-lined baking sheet.
  13. Return the coated banana slices to the freezer for at least 1 hour until the chocolate is set.
  14. Drizzle any leftover melted chocolate over the treats if desired.
  15. Transfer the fully frozen treats to an airtight container for storage (up to a month).
  16. When ready to serve, let them sit at room temperature for a few minutes before enjoying.
