- 1 cup of crushed nuts (such as almonds, walnuts, or peanuts)
- 1 cup of shredded coconut (unsweetened or sweetened, based on preference)
- 1 teaspoon of sea salt (optional, for a sweet and salty flavor)
- Popsicle sticks or toothpicks
Instructions
- Peel the bananas and cut them into 1-inch thick slices or in half for longer pieces.
- Place the banana slices on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper, ensuring they are spaced out.
- Insert a popsicle stick or toothpick into each banana slice.
- Freeze the banana slices for 1-2 hours until completely frozen.
- Melt the chocolate using a double boiler or microwave.
- For a double boiler, simmer water in the bottom pot and melt chocolate chips and coconut oil in the top pot, stirring until smooth.
- For the microwave, heat chocolate chips and coconut oil in 30-second intervals, stirring in between until melted.
- Let the melted chocolate cool slightly.
- Remove the frozen banana slices from the freezer.
- Dip each slice into the melted chocolate, ensuring an even coat.
- Roll the chocolate-covered banana in your choice of toppings (crushed nuts, shredded coconut, or sea salt).
- Place the coated bananas back on the parchment-lined baking sheet.
- Return the coated banana slices to the freezer for at least 1 hour until the chocolate is set.
- Drizzle any leftover melted chocolate over the treats if desired.
- Transfer the fully frozen treats to an airtight container for storage (up to a month).
- When ready to serve, let them sit at room temperature for a few minutes before enjoying.
