Description

Indulge in the luxurious flavors of this Croque Norvegien featuring rich smoked salmon and creamy Gruyère cheese. Perfect for brunch or a cozy night in, this gourmet sandwich is sure to impress.

Ingredients

  • Sourdough bread
  • Smoked salmon
  • Gruyère cheese
  • Crème fraîche
  • Fresh dill
  • Butter

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Lightly butter one side of each slice of sourdough bread.
  2. On the unbuttered side of one slice, spread a generous layer of crème fraîche. Layer on the smoked salmon, followed by a sprinkle of fresh dill. Add a slice of Gruyère cheese on top.
  3. Place the other slice of bread on top, buttered side facing out. Repeat this process for the second sandwich.
  4. In a skillet over medium heat, place your assembled sandwiches. Cook for about 3-4 minutes on one side until golden brown. Carefully flip the sandwiches and cover the skillet with a lid to help the cheese melt. Cook for an additional 3-4 minutes.
  5. Transfer the sandwiches to a baking sheet and place them in the preheated oven. Bake for 5-7 minutes or until the cheese is bubbly and the bread is crispy.
  6. Once out of the oven, let the sandwiches cool for a minute. Cut them diagonally and serve warm, garnished with extra dill if desired.
