Ingredients
Scale
- 2 large ripe bananas
- 1 cup dark chocolate chips (or milk chocolate, if preferred)
- 1 tablespoon coconut oil (optional, for smoother chocolate)
- 1/2 cup chopped nuts (such as almonds, walnuts, or pecans)
- 1/4 cup shredded coconut (unsweetened)
- 1/4 cup mini marshmallows (optional)
- 1/4 teaspoon sea salt (for garnish)
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract (optional)
Instructions
- Peel the bananas and slice them into thin rounds, about 1/4 inch thick.
- Lay the banana rounds out on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper, ensuring they are not touching.
- In a microwave-safe bowl, combine the dark chocolate chips and coconut oil (if using).
- Microwave the chocolate in 30-second intervals, stirring in between, until melted (about 1-2 minutes total).
- Stir in the vanilla extract if using.
- Drizzle the melted chocolate over the banana slices on the baking sheet, covering each slice generously.
- Sprinkle the chopped nuts evenly over the chocolate-covered bananas.
- Add the shredded coconut and mini marshmallows (if using).
- Sprinkle a pinch of sea salt over the top.
- Place the baking sheet in the freezer and let it chill for about 1-2 hours, or until the chocolate is completely hardened.
- Remove the baking sheet from the freezer and gently lift the parchment paper to remove the bark.
- Cut the bark into pieces with a sharp knife.
- Place the pieces in an airtight container, separating layers with parchment paper.
- Store in the freezer for up to 2 months or in the refrigerator for a softer texture.
Notes
- Feel free to customize the toppings based on your preferences.
- For a healthier option, use dark chocolate with a high cocoa content and skip the mini marshmallows.
- This treat is perfect for satisfying sweet cravings while being easy to prepare in advance.
