  • Author: Clara
  • Total Time: 20 minutes
  • Yield: 4 cups 1x

Description

This refreshing carrot, ginger, and turmeric juice is a nutrient-packed drink that combines the natural sweetness of carrots and apple with the zing of ginger and earthy warmth of turmeric. Perfect for a morning boost or midday pick-me-up, enjoy it chilled or over ice for a revitalizing experience!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 large carrots, peeled and chopped
  • 1-inch piece of fresh ginger, peeled and sliced
  • 1-inch piece of fresh turmeric, peeled and sliced (or 1 teaspoon ground turmeric)
  • 1 medium apple, cored and chopped (optional for sweetness)
  • 1 lemon, juiced
  • 2 cups of water (or coconut water for added flavor)
  • 1 tablespoon honey or maple syrup (optional, for sweetness)
  • A pinch of black pepper (to enhance turmeric absorption)

Instructions

  1. Wash and Peel the Carrots: Thoroughly wash the carrots under running water and peel them using a vegetable peeler.
  2. Chop the Carrots: Cut the peeled carrots into 1-2 inch pieces for easier blending.
  3. Prepare the Ginger and Turmeric: Peel and slice the ginger and turmeric. If using ground turmeric, skip this step.
  4. Core and Chop the Apple: If using, core and chop the apple into smaller pieces.
  5. Juice the Lemon: Squeeze the juice from the lemon, removing any seeds.
  6. Combine Ingredients in Blender: In a high-speed blender, add the chopped carrots, ginger, turmeric, apple (if using), lemon juice, and water (or coconut water). If using ground turmeric, add it now.
  7. Add Sweetener and Black Pepper: Add honey or maple syrup and a pinch of black pepper to the blender.
  8. Blend Until Smooth: Blend on high speed for 1-2 minutes until smooth, scraping down the sides as needed.
  9. Prepare a Strainer or Cheesecloth: Set up a fine mesh strainer, cheesecloth, or nut milk bag over a bowl or pitcher.
  10. Pour the Mixture: Carefully pour the blended mixture into the strainer.
  11. Extract the Juice: Press down on the pulp with a spatula or spoon to extract as much juice as possible.
  12. Discard the Pulp: Discard the remaining pulp or use it in other recipes.
  13. Taste and Adjust: Taste the juice and adjust sweetness or thickness as desired.
  14. Chill or Serve Immediately: Serve over ice or chill in the refrigerator for 30 minutes.
  15. Garnish (Optional): Garnish with a slice of lemon or a sprinkle of ground turmeric if desired.
  16. Store Leftovers: Store any leftover juice in an airtight container in the refrigerator for 24-48 hours.

Notes

  • For a sweeter juice, adjust the amount of honey or maple syrup to your taste.
  • If you prefer a thicker juice, you can skip straining, but it will have a pulpier texture.
  • The juice is best consumed fresh but can be stored for a short time in the refrigerator.
